&Democracy is a new group in Arlington, Virginia started in January, 2025 to organize and mobilize pro-democracy action.
It started off as a happy hour, “Drinks & Democracy“, to socialize and meet like-minded people, to vent about the Trump regime. Then we organized. We met at a library, meaning no beverages allowed. We crossed out the “Drinks” and now we’re just “&Democracy“.
We believe in policies which supports Americans from the bottom up, not from the top down:
Economic Fairness – Promote living wages, fair taxation, affordable and varied housing, abundant public transport, and policies that reduce the growing gap between the wealthy and working families.
Worker Rights – Expand paid time off, paid family leave, affordable childcare, support strong unions, and protections for workers in all industries.
Healthcare for All – Ensure everyone can receive quality medical care, including mental health services, prescription drugs, and preventative care.
Strong Public Education – Invest in well-funded public schools that prepare students to be smart, capable, and productive members of society.
Environmental Responsibility – Tackle climate change with investments in clean energy, sustainable infrastructure, and protections for communities most at risk.
Equity and Inclusion – Confront systemic discrimination and ensure equal rights and opportunities for all, including communities of color, women, and LGBTQ+ Americans.
Voting Rights Protection – Guarantee every citizen has easy and equal access to vote, and eliminate practices that suppress participation.
Campaign Reform – Curb the influence of big money in politics through transparency and fairer campaign financing.
Humane Immigration Policy – Create a fair, orderly, and compassionate immigration system that respects human rights and recognizes the contributions of immigrants.
Justice System Reform – Focus on rehabilitation over punishment, reduce mass incarceration, build a more just and humane legal system, ethics standards for the justices of the Supreme Court, and greater accountability on politicians who break the law.
Support Democracy Abroad – Provide economic and military aid to democracies abroad, encourage democratic activities, and develop strong alliances with fellow democracies.
